Olympic Platform (14 photos | 2015)

I built a solid Olympic platform in my basement that is custom fit around a squat rack. The base legs of the rack are housed within the platform to allow for more of an area for safer lifts. The frame is made up of 2x3 studs, on top of that are 19/32" thick sheets of strand boards (provides a little flexibility/cushion for when bumper plates are dropped), on top of that are 3/4" thick sheets of plywood, and finally the top layer consists of 3/4" thick sheets of stall mats with a 3/4" thick sheet of cabinet grade plywood for the center platform. Platform is modular so it can be taken apart and easily moved. It is very solid and works great with heavy loads!
